| Description | Diospyros kaki
The Fuyu Japanese persimmon is a non-astringent variety that lacks a core, seeds, and tannins. The flavour of the Vanilla Kaki persimmon is rich and sweet, with tasting notes of pear, apricot, and a hint of bourbon vanilla.
Self-fertile, it does not require cross-pollination with other species, but can benefit when cross-pollination occurs.
16"/40cm pot | Malus purpurea
The Purple Crab Apple makes a handsome small tree, quite round topped in maturity. With beautiful flowers which are a deep, red-purple colour creating an effect that looks almost unbelievably rich.
A great specimen tree, in Autumn the Purple Crab Apple has dark purple fruit and leaves which turn shades of yellow and red.
13" pot size. | Gaura lindheimeri "Butterfly Bush"
Butterfly Bush is a bushy, hardy perennial shrub with long graceful stems that bloom with pale pink flowers in spring-summer. These stems grow up to 1m long, but can be clipped back shorter, and sway gracefully in the breeze. The name of a popular variety, Whirling Butterflies, perfectly describes the way the plant resembles a cloud of butterflies when swaying in the breeze.
6" pot size. | Escallonia Iveyi
Escallonia Iveyi is a quick growing, evergreen plant with fragrant white flowers in summer. Ideal for hedges, borders or screening.
It is particulary hardy and will cope with coastal conditions as well as a hot, dry location, but does not cope with humidity. Frost hardy and drought tolerant once established. Plant 70cm apart for hedges and borders.
6" pot size, approximately 15-25cm in height. | Callistemon "Candy Pink"
Candy Pink is a medium shrub that is incredibly adaptable. Its large flower spikes are a lovely dark pink colour and are borne in flushes virtually all year round after a flush of new growth happens.
Candy Pink requires low maintenance and is suitable for coastal gardens. It is drought resistant. Likes a position of full sunlight to light shade.
6" pot size. | Jacaranda mimosifolia
The Jacaranda tree puts on a breathtaking floral display. Its vivid lilac-blue clusters of trumpet shaped blossoms appear in the summer, later falling to the earth carpeting the ground with a mass of colour. It is said that if you are walking underneath the Jacaranda tree and one of the trumpet blossoms falls on your head you will be favoured by fortune. | Rosa floribunda
Scentimental rose produces clusters of large double-flowered blooms, mixed with burgundy, white and specks of pink. It has a sweet, but spicy fragrance.
It is frost tolerant when established and will require a full sun position with well-drained soil.
Bush rose. | Ulmus parvifolia
The bark of the Chinese Elm is a real stand out feature, as the tree sheds it in patches, creating the effect of a tapestry of varying browns and greys. Foliage is lush, shiny and green, and the tree is semi deciduous, turning golden in autumn, and keeping its leaves in warmer areas. It has also been noted by many Aussie gardeners in recent years that native birds enjoy the fruit of the Chinese Elm. | Stachys byzantina (syn. lanata)
Irresistibly soft, furry silver foliage, the 'Lambs Ear' is a must have in every Cottage garden.
• Tall purple flowers
• Looks great in pots, rockeries, along pathways and mass planted
• Tolerates dry soils
6"/14cm pot size. | Monstera deliciosa
The Monstera deliciosa, often called the Fruit Salad Plant or Swiss Cheese Plant, is a striking indoor feature plant known for its large, glossy green leaves that develop natural splits and holes as it matures. This fast-growing climber creates a lush, tropical look in any space and can live for many years with the right care.
- Feeding: Fertilise every 4–6 weeks in growth season
- Size: Reaches several metres with support
- Uses: Ideal indoor feature, pots, or climbing plant
