Wisteria floribunda

Wisteria Violacea Plena bears masses of semi-double mauve flowers with a light fragrance in early Spring and spectacular autumn foliage colour. This hardy Wisteria is a fast grower so it’s ideal for covering pergolas or arbours and providing much needed shade over the Summer months. Wisteria floribunda are a hardy Japanese climber that will create a beautiful focal point with stunning pendulous racemes of long flowers that can grow up to 1m long on some varieties. Wisterias prefer their tops in the sun but their roots in a cool moist position. They will need strong support so are perfect for growing over a pergola or arch, on walls or fences or along a verandah. Flowers appear in early Spring 8"/20cm pot size.

Stachys byzantina (syn. lanata)

ContentWisterias look great planted over archways and pergolas. Wisterias are hardy fast growing climbers that have long been sought after for their magnificent drooping sprays of perfumed flowers. They are deciduous and frost hardy with twisted woody stems. Most varieties flower in early Spring which is followed by soft light green foliage throughout Spring and Summer, bean like seed pods are produced after flowering. Wisterias require good strong support, they may take a few years to establish, once established they are a vigorous climber. If required, prune after flowering to shape your Wisterias. Wisterias can also be grown as standards. They love full sun positions in well drained soils, water and fertilise well when they are flowering and also in the warmer months. We recommend Fertilising every three months with Devotion™ Time Release Fertiliser. For more information on these beautiful climbers, visit our Wisteria factsheet.
