Description

Allium tuberosum

Garlic chives are not mentioned in many of the old western herbals, but have been used in Asian cuisine for centuries. Like normal Chives, the are a hardy herbaceous perennial. The only differences being they have a mild garlic and onion flavour, and small white starry like flowers. They are great in pots or in the ground, preferring full sun to part shade. They can grow up to 50cm tall, and splitting the plant every few years will help ensure the plants survival. When harvesting, cut the leaves near to the ground, as it's better for the plant. Garlic chives are great used in salads, stirfrys, rice, and as a garnish for curries, soups, and potatoes. They will keep in the fridge for up to a week. Alternatively you can preserve them in butters, oils and vinaigrettes. 4"/10cm pot size.

Escallonia Iveyi

Escallonia Iveyi is a quick growing, evergreen plant with fragrant white flowers in summer. Ideal for hedges, borders or screening. It is particulary hardy and will cope with coastal conditions as well as a hot, dry location, but does not cope with humidity. Frost hardy and drought tolerant once established.  Plant 70cm apart for hedges and borders. 6" pot size, approximately 15-25cm in height.

Citrus aurantifolia

Tahitian Limes are probably the most popular lime tree, for a host of reasons. They're thornless, unlike other lime varieties, and the fruit are a good size with no seeds. Limes are fantastic to have handy for cooking and making refreshing drinks. 2L pot size.

Ophiopogon planiscapus ‘Nigrescens’

Why buy Black Mondo Grass

[one_half] [/one_half] [one_half_last] Mondo Grass is the grass-like plant you never have to cut. Fantastic for groundcovers and borders, it reaches a maximum length of 8 inches and grows no longer. This black variety makes a striking feature element in the garden. This groundcover is ideal for Asian or Zen-style gardens, as well as areas around pavers. It prefers morning sun or dappled shade, thriving in deep shade and tolerating wet, boggy conditions. However, it does struggle in direct hot sun, especially at the sunny end of a path. In a hurry: Plant 16 per square metre Prepared to wait: Plant 8 per square metre [/one_half_last]
