DescriptionThe Sugar herb, is a herbaceous perennial shrub, native to South America. It is a sub tropical plant and prefers a semi humid environment. In the wild it can grow up to 60cm tall. The leaves have a sweet taste to them, and are sweetest when the plant begins to flower. For thousands of years South Americans have used this herb to sweeten teas, beverages and food. The leaves can be used fresh or dried, and more potent when dried.

It is frost tolerant, and prefers well drained soils.
