| Description | Plectranthus caninus
Dogbane is a perennial herb from the mint family, which grows to about 15cm high, 30cm when in flower. When crushed, leaves have a very strong aroma, however dogs and cats are said to be able to smell the aroma from intact leaves and be repelled from the plant. This herb is also know as "scaredy cat plant". This plant prefers full sun to part shade, but may need more shade in very hot areas. If there is too much shade the plant becomes "leggy" with less foliage. It's frost tender so it needs a warm protected position to protect it from frost and hot sun, it's not suited to open conditions. Water young plants regularly, and once established older plants will tolerate short dry periods. It flowers in spring and summer. And this plant is also recommended for use as an insect repellent. | Lavandula angustifolia
Munstead Lavender is a dwarf-rounded bush with aromatic grey-green foliage. It produces dense spikes of aromatic beautiful tiny purple to violet flowers during summer. These are lighter in colour than Hidcote Lavender, and the plant grows slightly larger.
8" pot size | Rosa floribunda
Aspirin® is a lower-growing rose that will produce masses of large, white double blooms with dark green glossy foliage.
• One of the best roses for mass planting and landscaping
• Hardy rose, tolerating poor soils and heat
• Fantastic disease resistance | Lavandula angustifolia "Hidcote"
Hidcote Lavender is a dwarf bush with aromatic silver-green leaves bearing slender spikes of dark purple-blue flowers during spring and summer. The flowers are darker in colour than Munstead lavendar, and Hidcote does not grow as tall.
6" pot size, approximately 8-20cm in height. | Stachys byzantina (syn. lanata)
Irresistibly soft, furry silver foliage, the 'Lambs Ear' is a must have in every Cottage garden.
• Tall purple flowers
• Looks great in pots, rockeries, along pathways and mass planted
• Tolerates dry soils
6"/14cm pot size. | Banksia integrifolia
Banksia integrifolia or ‘Coastal Banksia’ is a hardy native found down the Eastern coastline of Australia. Often seen in windswept and sculptural shapes along beach fronts, when placed in a less hostile environment, they can become quite beautiful, bushy specimen plants. They grow anywhere between 4m - 10m and 1m - 5m wide, depending on their environment. During autumn and winter their yellow flowers form into large cones, rich with nectar. These stunning flowers attract lots of bird life, particularly cockatoos and honey-eaters. Coastal Banksia is a slow grower and can handle a wide range of soil types.
10" pot size. | Veronica umbrosa
Georgia Blue produces masses of small blue flowers that smother the glossy foliage for months and appear sporadically throughout the year. The evergreen foliage becomes bronze-purple in winter.
Georgia Blue is a great weed suppressing ground or bulb cover, it also looks fantastic spilling over the edge of a container or low garden wall. The perfect plant if you want to add some colour to your garden.
8"/20cm pot size. |
