This is a good selection for a low scented, informal hedge as it responds well to pruning to keep its shape. Its dark foliage makes for a nice contrast in the garden. Prefers a moist, humus-rich well drained soil in a sunny garden position. | Malus purpureaThe Purple Crab Apple makes a handsome small tree, quite round topped in maturity. With beautiful flowers which are a deep, red-purple colour creating an effect that looks almost unbelievably rich.
