Description

Allium schoenoprasum

Chives come from the same family as onions, leeks, and garlic. And originate from Northern Europe and North America. Chives are used as decorative borders in Britain. They are the mildest of all onions, and are probably the easiest to grow of all the culinary herbs! They are a hardy perennial herb and grow in clumps, in almost any soil condition. Although they prefer rich soil in a nice sunny position. They are also perfect to grow in pots. Splitting the plant every few years will ensure the plants survival. Chives can reach up to 60cm in height and don't have the typical onion bulb. The clumps have shoots of little purple flowers, which are very pretty and also edible. Use chives in sauces, fresh salads, in egg or omelette recipes or with cream cheese. Can be used as a garnish on soups or potatoes. Diced leaves are great mixed in sour cream for baked potatoes. Or why not mix with softened butter and add to grilled meat! When harvesting, cut close to the ground, which is better for the plant. Store in airtight plastic in the fridge for up to a week. You can also preserve chives in butters, oils, and vinaigrettes. 4"/10cm pot size.

Camellia sasanqua

Camellia "Yuletide" is an evergreen shrub with dense, glossy green leaves. It has bright red flowers with yellow stamens, and can get to 4m tall. In Australia this variety of camellia flowers from March to July, but in the northern hemisphere it flowers in the Christmas season, hence it's name. It prefers a sunny to part shade position in rich well drained soil. Water regularly in warmer months. Camellias are perfect for hedging, or as a feature plant. Fertilise and prune lightly in Spring. This plant comes in a 13" pot.

Washingtonia robusta

Common names: Mexican Cotton Fan Palm, Mexican Fan Palm, Mexican washingtonia, Washingtonia palm. The Mexican Cotton Fan Palm is a medium-tall sized palm originating from Mexico. It can reach a mature height of 7m in Victoria's climate. It has large fan like fronds with remnant threads of foliage that appear like ‘cotton’ hanging from between frond segments. It is tough, drought and frost tolerant when established! It is a perfect addition for features and tropical gardens. 100 litre pot.

Callistemon "Candy Pink"

Candy Pink is a medium shrub that is incredibly adaptable. Its large flower spikes are a lovely dark pink colour and are borne in flushes virtually all year round after a flush of new growth happens. Candy Pink requires low maintenance and is suitable for coastal gardens. It is drought resistant. Likes a position of full sunlight to light shade. 6" pot size.

Hardenbergia violacea

Happy Wanderer is the most well known variety of this popular native climber. With its vigorous climbing habit it is a useful plant for covering fences and similar objects or used as a spreading ground cover.

Happy Wanderer's leaves are glossy green in colour and the flowers are a vibrant rich violet-mauve in colour. They are borne profusely from Winter to early Spring. Likes a full sun to part shade position.
