Description

Quercus robur

English Oaks are famous for being solid and strong. The trunk and secondary branches are very solid and are covered in thick blackish-grey bark which makes it quite a sight. The autumn foliage is a rich, dark brown. As the foliage is smaller than other deciduous trees, fallen leaves are not particularly difficult to eliminate and will not clog drains. 10"/25cm pot

Strelitzia reginae

Exotic blue and orange flowers in the shape of a bird give this plant its name, Bird of Paradise.

• Tropical looking broad round leaves • Looks great in pots, along fence lines and in poolside gardens • Tolerates drought, light frost and poor soils

Phoenix roebelenii 'Pygmy Date Palm'

Date Palms feature an interesting, classic palm trunk that forms and grows larger as it matures. They have a crown of elegant dark green lacy fronds cascading from the top of this. A mature Date Palm will reach 2-3 meters tall. Old, dead fronds are best pruned off to expose the trunk as the tree ages and to keep it neat. The Date Palm is another good plant for creating a tropical feel in the garden which does well down South.

Erigeron karvinskianus

Daisy Spray or Seaside Daisy is a hardy perennial shrub with little daisy flowers of pink and white. • Only grows 15cm tall! • Perfect for borders, pots and the cottage style garden • Tolerates heat, drought, poor soils and frost
Rosa floribunda Magic Fire produces a display of neat, classical salmon pink/apricot blooms, with a light fragrance.
  • Excellent as cut flowers
  • Multicoloured pink colours
  • Vigorous growth
2ft standard rose

Citrus australasica

The Native Finger Lime Green Sapphire is evergreen and bears interesting elongated fruits with green skin and clear/green pearl-like flesh.
  • Edible Native Bush Tucker (Food)
  • Intense sweet and tangy flavour fruits
  • Scented small flowers
5 litre pot

Wisteria sinensis

One of the most popular Wisteria available with slightly smaller flowers than that of the Wisteria floribunda, hanging 18-30cm off the vine

• Long, fragrant purple flowers covering bare vines in the early spring • Can be trained to climb along a fence, trellis, arbor or archways. • Prefers a full sun position in moist, well-drained soil

See our Wisteria Factsheet here for more about the different Wisteria varieties!

Bird of Paradise are native to South Africa, and are very hardy and can be grown in full sun to part shade. They get their name from their exotic blue/orange flowers that resemble the head of a colourful tropical bird.

Bird of Paradise have large, lush foliage and look great when used in rockeries and interplanted with yuccas and agaves. Great for creating a tropical feel in the garden.

We refer to these as "Flowering Bird of Paradise" or Strelitzia Bird of Paradise (a bit of a mouthful that comes from their botanical name) because there is another variety of Bird of Paradise called Giant Bird of Paradise. These have much bigger leaves, are taller growing, and are often planted together with Flowering Bird of Paradise to create a multi-layered, tropic garden effect even as far south as Melbourne.

Daisy Spray Erigeron is a superior form of the Seaside Daisy, Erigeron karvinskianus, that will grow into a compact mound 60 cm in diameter and 40 cm tall. Daisy Spray Erigeron retains its compact shape & dosen’t self-sow and spread throughout the garden. Daisy Spray Erigeron’s soft pink & white daisy flowers are borne in a densely massed profusion for most of the year. Take a look at our fact sheet on Daisy Spray to find out more information.Roses are easily one of the most popular and widely cultivated groups of flowering plants.
