The shells are easy to crack and well-sealed, making it a favorite in commercial production, especially in cooler climates with ample chill hours. This tree is a strong grower and is typically late to leaf out, which helps reduce the risk of frost. Although it often benefits from a pollinator to achieve optimal yields, it does have some self-fertile capabilities.
