| Description | Gazania rigens
You're enjoying a lazy Summer Sunday drive, and out of the corner of your eye you spot flashes of bright reds, oranges and yellows roadside, well, you've probably just discovered the humble Gazania!
Gazania's are a tough perennial ground cover daisy that creates cheerful Spring and Summer flowers in lots of different bright colours.
They thrive in a full sun position and will open their petals during the day to soak up the suns rays and close at night when having a sleep.
Gazanias are perfect for an ultra low maintenance garden and coastal landscapes.
Grows approximately H: 20 cm W:60 cm
6" pot size - All different colours. | Agapanthus praecox minimus
Dwarf Agapanthus are smaller and more compact, great for narrow borders and gardens with less space.
• Fine, strap-like lime green foliage
• White umbel flowers appear on tall stems above the foliage
• Extremely hardy, tolerating poor soils and drought
6"/14cm pot size. | Phoenix roebelenii 'Pygmy Date Palm'
Date Palms feature an interesting, classic palm trunk that forms and grows larger as it matures. They have a crown of elegant dark green lacy fronds cascading from the top of this. A mature Date Palm will reach 2-3 meters tall.
Old, dead fronds are best pruned off to expose the trunk as the tree ages and to keep it neat. The Date Palm is another good plant for creating a tropical feel in the garden which does well down South. | Correa reflexa var. nummulariifolia
Correa ‘Roundleaf’ is a compact native shrub admired for its rounded, soft green foliage and delicate tubular flowers appearing mainly in autumn and winter. Its naturally dense and tidy habit makes it perfect for borders, native gardens, and wildlife-friendly plantings.
- Fertilizer: Light feed with a low-phosphorus native fertilizer in spring
- Mature Size: Approx. 60cm high x 1m wide
- Flowering Season: Primarily autumn and winter
6"/ 14 cm pot | Escallonia Iveyi
Escallonia Iveyi is a quick growing, evergreen plant with fragrant white flowers in summer. Ideal for hedges, borders or screening.
It is particulary hardy and will cope with coastal conditions as well as a hot, dry location, but does not cope with humidity. Frost hardy and drought tolerant once established. Plant 70cm apart for hedges and borders.
6" pot size, approximately 15-25cm in height. | Buxus sempervirens suffruticosa
A glossy green, rounded leaf box hedging plant
• Used for low to medium hedging and topiary
• Planted in the garden, along borders, pathways and in pots
• Tolerates shady positions |
| Content | | | | | | If your looking for a small hedging plant then this is the one for you. Dutch Box is a dwarf box that grows with dense, glossy green foliage and works well in shaded areas.
Dutch Box also likes part shade in moist, well-drained soil, but will tolerate a wide range of soils and conditions. It should be clipped to maintain a formal shape.
Slight yellow discolouration of the leaves on Dutch box may occur during cooler months, but don't worry, this is normal! This is remedied by applying with Dolomite Lime, and a slow release fertilizer a month later. Or you can just leave your Dutch Box alone and it will come back lovely and green and spring.
