Commonly called Blue Ginger (though it’s not a true ginger).
A lush tropical plant that is especially eye-catching when in full bloom, producing striking clusters of vibrant cobalt-blue flowers unlike almost any other. The foliage is equally dramatic, with new leaves showing a metallic gold sheen and a vivid purple underside. Best grown in moist, well-drained loamy soil in a sheltered, partly shaded position. Although it will tolerate full sun, excessive exposure may cause leaf scorch.
