DescriptionMalus domestica Granny Smith apples are the green apple of Aussie choice, originating in Australia. While we eat them raw by the bucketload, they're really best as a cooking apple and a key ingredient of Apple Crumble. Granny Smith apples also make great cider. Remember that apple trees need to be planted near other apple trees so that they can pollinate each other and produce fruit. Ideal companions for Granny Smith apple trees are Snow, Fuji and Pink Lady. This is because they all flower at a similar time. 20''/50cm pot A horizontal cordon espalier is a flat, rectangular tree structure formed by guiding branches to grow horizontally along a support system, typically a trellis or fence.

Malus purpurea

The Purple Crab Apple makes a handsome small tree, quite round topped in maturity. With beautiful flowers which are a deep, red-purple colour creating an effect that looks almost unbelievably rich. A great specimen tree, in Autumn the Purple Crab Apple has dark purple fruit and leaves which turn shades of yellow and red. 13" pot size.

Cedrela sinensis (syn. Toona sinensis)
