It has crisp sub-acid qualities, ripening very late in the season throughout june and July. In spring the bright green foliage is complimented by clusters of pink buds that reveal creamy white flowers, before fruiting occurs. This variety can grow to a height of 7m and a width of 5m. Acer rubrum is a tall straight trunked tree with beautiful lobed and veined matt green leaves. The bark is grey, thin and smooth. The foliage will turn fantastic to shades of scarlet and gold in autumn before shedding its leaves for winter.
