| Description | Origanum syriaca Oregano Za’atar is a small, woody perennial with an upright growing habit with soft green-grey aromatic leaves. This herb grows naturally in Israel, Jordan and surrounding countries. Za’atar is the Arabic name for Oreganum syriacum and the plant has a long history, including recorded use in Ancient Egypt. Other common names include Wild Za’atar, Wild Middle Eastern Oregano, Wild Thyme, or Lebanese Oregano.
