Climbers & Groundcovers are spreading plants that are used to cover horizontal or vertical surfaces. Some climbers will attach to walls whilst others require a trellis, arch or framework to climb over. Groundcovers on the other hand are often used to fill garden beds, hang down retaining walls, preserve the topsoil on a slope or as a lawn alternative. Some varieties such as Dichonrda repens and Dichondra ‘Silver Falls’ can be used as gorgeous potted hanging plants as well.

We included both groundcovers and climbers here in one category as many spreading plants can do both, like Asiatic Jasmine.
