About Hydrangeas – Memories from Chris
Hydrangeas are a beautiful family of plants, and they’re a very old-fashioned plant. When I was a child, almost every garden would have hydrangeas in a shady corner. They’d have a lovely display of blooms there — often they’d be cut and brought inside as cut flowers. Very often, they’d be dried, and the dried hydrangea flowers would be used to bulk up potpourri arrangements.
But hydrangeas, although they’re an old-fashioned plant, have in recent years — particularly with the popularity of the Hampton-style garden — become very, very popular again. They’ve become highly sought after.
Varieties to Love
Hydrangeas come in a stunning range of varieties, each offering its own distinctive texture, shape, and color palette. From elegant whites to soft pinks, vivid blues, and deep purples, every hue brings a different charm to the garden. Explore the beauty of each below:

How to take care of Hydrangeas – Advice from Chris
They’re a very easy plant to grow, flowering from mid-spring right through to late autumn if they’re properly looked after. They can be grown in courtyards and on balconies; they thrive in shady corners, and most hydrangeas do best in dappled shade — morning sun and afternoon shade, or even deep, deep shade.
They love a little bit of fertilizer, but as the name suggests, their main love is plenty of water. Lots of people want to feature hydrangeas in a sunny spot, say at the front of a north-facing house — and you can, if you use a Paniculata hydrangea. ‘Sundae Fraise’ is one of the best choices for a hot, sunny position.
The only proviso is that you need to give them plenty of water to keep the flowers and foliage looking perfect in the hot sun.

Pick the right Hydrangeas for your garden
Hydrangeas come in a range of colours, with different styles and types of foliage and flowers, and there are both larger and more compact varieties. At Hello Hello, we’ve assembled a large range of hydrangeas for you to choose from, so you can get the right type, size, and colour for your space.
One of my favourites is the Oakleaf Hydrangea. These have beautiful conical-shaped white flowers, unusually shaped dark green foliage — but best of all, they turn into a beautiful burgundy in autumn and hold that colour all through winter.
Go online or come in-store and find the right hydrangea for you — and start enjoying these wonderful plants in your garden.
Regards, Chris.
