Ophiopogan japonicas 'Mondo grass'

Mondo Grass is a groundcover or bordering plant that lets you throw away your shears. The advantage of Mondo Grass is that once they grow to their full height, they never grow any taller. You simply choose the right height plant for your needs to create a dense, rich, glossy green border that never needs trimming. Tall Mondo Grass grows to 9-10 inches long and spreads quickly to create a dense evergreen border with a soft look that compliments many gardens. 3" pot size.

Pennisetum setaceum

Common names: Fountain grass, African fountain grass, Green fountain or foxtail grass. Originating from Africa, Pennisetum setaceum is an upright tufted ornamental grass with slim green stems, holding feathery long spike-heads that are reddish purple in colour. They are fast-growing, wind tolerant and will look wonderful planting en masse. Mature growth will reach 1m tall by 50cm wide.

Waterhousea floribunda

This Australian native is known as the Weeping Lilly Pilly due to its slightly drooping habit, which is visually very attractive. It is often used as a hedge/screen and responds well to pruning. Although often used as a hedge, it can also be planted as an evergreen tree. It also flowers white in Summer, but rarely in Melbourne, so it makes a good choice near pools. The height is often determined by the conditions, but untrimmed will reach at least 8m. It can easily grow in many soil types, is frost tolerant and also copes well with damp soils. It is fast growing and has a lovely, lush, compact foliage with the new growth a pink/rust colour adding contrast.

Box Leaf Privet is one of the most popular as it grows all year round, it will grow in almost any soil or conditions and if it is kept trimmed it looks as good or better than English Box. Box Leaved Privet love hot sunny positions, they don’t do well in a shady corner, and almost any soil as long as it is moderately well drained. To create a dense bushy low hedge or border you only need to plant 4 plants per metre. Box Leaf Privet loves plenty of water, regular fertilising and regular trimming, given these are provided, you will find that you can create a dense fine traditional or English Box style border in just one full growing season with very little cost.

[one_half] [/one_half] [one_half_last padding="0 0 0 20px"] Climbing Ficus is evergreen meaning it keeps its leaves all year round and takes a little longer to cover the wall than Boston Ivy, another leafy climber popular in Melbourne and Victoria. If kept neatly trimmed flat to the wall, Ficus pumila keeps very fine, beautiful foliage and can be kept at a thickness of 4-8 cm thick on the wall. This plant is a great choice where space is at a premium as alternatives like Boston Ivy will be around 25 -30cm thick over the wall. Ficus pumila grows best in hot sun but also does well in shade. Mini Mondo can be planted in front of a low hedge to create a layered effect, or planted as a border around low growing plants that you don’t wish to have dwarfed by your border.

Tall Mondo

Tall Mondo is a finer, straighter leaved Mondo, which grows to a maximum height of 30cm. It spreads quickly and forms a dense evergreen border with a soft look that compliments many gardens, including cottage gardens, lush tropical gardens full of palms, formal gardens & contemporary modern landscapes.

Bongo Borders Liriope are the perfect compliment border & perform like a giant Mondo Grass. Bongo Borders Liriope grow to a maximum height of 90cm. Their rich strap like leaves form a very full and attractive border, which spreads quickly & gives the feeling of luxuriance.
