Growing Heuchera in Australian Conditions

Heuchera grows best in part shade to filtered light and should be protected from harsh afternoon sun during hot Australian summers. Morning sun with afternoon shade provides ideal conditions. Free-draining, organic-rich soil is essential, and heavy clay should be improved with compost. Water moderately while establishing, then reduce watering once mature, as Heuchera is drought-tolerant but dislikes waterlogged soil, especially in winter. It is well suited to Victoria, Tasmania, cooler regions of NSW and South Australia, and can be grown in warmer climates in shaded positions or containers. Once established, Heuchera is frost tolerant.
