DescriptionAlnus jorullensis, Mexican Alder, Evergreen Birch  Evergreen Alder (Toorak Gum) is a fast growing medium sized evergreen tree. This tree is tough and will quite often thrive where other trees have difficultly growing. It prefers soil with higher amounts of moisture and loves low wet ground. Evergreen Alder is great as it can be shaped as well as used as a windbreak. Grows to around 6 meters in height. For more information, see our Evergreen Alder/Toorak Gum Tree factsheet.

Polygala myrtifolia x dalmaisiana

Polygala Dazzler is a shrub that originates from South Africa and has attractive, almost year round, purple pea-like flowers on light green foliage. It makes a great flowering hedge. Polygala Dazzler prefers a well-drained position, but tolerates poor soils, frost and dry conditions. Pruning in early Spring will encourage bushiness and flowers. Best feed regularly with a slow release fertiliser. 10" pot size.

Vitis Vinifera, Ornamental Grape Vine

Crimson Glory Vine is an absolutely beautiful large leaved deciduous climber with heart stopping Autumn colour. This is actually an ornamental (non-fruiting) variety of grape vine that has some fabulous features: it is very hardy, fast growing, long lived and tolerates a range of soils. Crimson Glory Vines are happy in full sun to part shade.
ContentEvergreen Alders will grow up to 8 metres tall and 4 to 5 metres wide, but they love to be trimmed and can be kept at almost any height. If you want a neat hedge shaped screen, trim them 3 times a year, or if you just want to keep the trees small trim them once a year. The time of year for the trimming doesn't matter - do it whenever you feel like. If you're planting a screen you plant them 2-3 metres a part. For an avenue plant them 6 to 7 metres apart.
